Too Slick for Safety |
|
The Grisdale Late Models will run double features on Saturday June 19th, after their main event was scrubbed from the June 12th schedule because of deteriorating track condition. After the second round of qualifying a drivers meeting was called to address the concerns of the growing mist that hung in the heavy air. The damp weather was causing the track surface to become more greasy as the night rolled on, and the fear was that the slick racing tires of the Late Model class would be unable to gain enough grip to hold the speed and control required for a close, clean race. The drivers voted to postpone the race one week, and to return to finish what they started. It was a tough call for many, particularly drivers Paul Howse and Shane Maginnis who both had winning qualifying runs as they tried to rebound from opening season weeks of disappointment. Saturday night, June 19th, the Late Models will run this post-poned feature race off the top of the night's program, then enter into the regular event qualifying for the second feature race. |
