Notes from Registration Day

Welcome to the 2008 Flamboro Speedway grass roots racing season.  Registration at the drivers meeting was $100, and now is $125 per driver.  Registration qualifies the driver to earn points under a car number, and for rewards offered in the point fund.

 -          Second drivers (teammates) must be registered to the car by the end of the race night May 31st

-          You do not earn championship points if you have no membership – there is no such thing as retro points, championship points are not earned until a membership is purchased

 -          Pit pad renewal is $50

-          New Pit pad is $300

-          Pit pad purchase is A pit pad, not Your pit pad.  The speedway will accommodate, but there may be nights when you are asked to park elsewhere – we appreciate your co-operation

Rule books are on sale, $5 – available at the speedway.

Please read to understand revisions for 2008.

- Be familiar with general rules and the rules for your division.

- Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse.

Revisions and Notes

- Late Models, the WWS program has been suspended, and is not involved this season.  However, the spirit of promotional cooperation with Delaware will continue.

       -   All visitors to Flamboro, all divisions, will be expected to conform to the Flamboro rules
package as laid out in the rule book.

-          Tires are the same as last year, American Racer for LM, Hoosier for TC.  AR tires are priced at $145, available at Grisdales.  Hoosiers are $110, available at the track.  There has been a price increase in the US due to oil pricing, but the current value of the CDN dollar has compensated, for now.

-          Best 18 nights will count to your championship score

-          18 nights of participation will be considered a full season, and perfect attendance

-          You choose your nights off

-          Why – more accommodating to the many lives involved – over 100 teams; allows broken cars a chance to be fixed and still compete for title; allows more flex time for family.

-          There will be contingency prizing created as an award for the pole sitter at each of the 4 events

-          At these 4 events, all participants will earn 100 Flamboro points – no racing points.

TC and MS – Oktoberfest is the only special.  100 points for participation

100 point special nights can be used in your Best 18

Nightly scores

-          No more show points

-          On any night a driver will earn points in qualifying (heat points) and qualifying drivers will earn feature points.  1st place is 100 points, 24th is 77.

-          MS will start 30 cars as a regular feature and 30th will earn 71 points.

-          All non-qualifiers will earn a minimum of 65 points, plus any heat points earned.

Procedure

Laps

-          LM, same format as last year determined by car count, see rule book

-          TC will run 25 laps, MS will now run 25 laps

Handicapping

- Has changed to reflect the new scoring of Best 18

- The new system does not penalize for missing nights, but will handicap qualified drivers based on their past performance in the current season

-          Opening night, All Equal

-          Draw for starting spot, heat and consi to qualify the feature

-          Heads up start

From week two forward, drivers will draw for a spot in the heat, race to qualify to the feature – 18 spots

-          Final 6 positions raced for in the consi

-          The 18 qualified drivers will be handicapped based on their average point score as determined by total points divided by nights participated

-          Missed nights will be scored as 0 and Not reflected in your handicap

-          Drivers earning severe penalties – Tech DQ, Rough Driving, and Unsportsmanlike conduct – that result in 0 points will also not have that night reflected in their average – it will be as if you missed the night; Can be used as a dropped night

-          When you return, your handicap will be the same as when you entered the event the last time

-          Minor penalties will be issued at the discretion of the Race Director and management, and will not affect the drivers performance handicap

P.R. Work

- GRR Illustrated is the official souvenir program of the speedway, published monthly

- The Flamboro Speedway website will be updated weekly during the racing season based on the following schedule:

- an unofficial race finish will be posted on Sunday for the 3 regular classes

- a race report will be posted on Monday, with photos as available

- the official points and finish will be posted on Wednesday

Why?  - Any penalties or protests will be assessed and reviewed on Monday and Tuesday
and official decisions will be posted on the website

-          If needed, a second speedway article will be posted on Wednesday to explain any changes or decisions on protests/penalties – names and reasons will be printed for accountability

-          Other content on the web will be for information purposes – not entertainment.  If it’s not on the Flamboro site, not official.  Whatever the speedway wants shared will be posted – including race formats or schedules, particularly for special events like the G3 races.

-          Please fill out your registration with complete information – we will post a driver roster including Car #, Name, Hometown, and Sponsors

-          If you have your own web page please include it on the registration form and it will be linked to your name – the speedway will not be responsible for creating individual driver profiles

-          Other stories or announcements are welcome for consideration on the Flamboro site – there will only be one speedway article that will not cover all incidents or perspectives.  If you want yours shared, write it down and send it in.

-          Heat win photos will return in 2008.  Details will be available on day 1, and they will be on the track.  They will be quick, with no guests permitted, and they will be with the driver in the car.

-          Feature winners will be interviewed by the announcers in victory lane in front of the grandstand – Visiting classes will also be interviewed if time permits, and will regularly run following the home divisions of LM, TC and MS.

-          Articles will be submitted weekly to the Flamborough Review, and monthly to Inside Track Motorsport News.

Flamboro Speedway will be at the Performance World Auto Show in March 14 -16.

There is another trade show in London on the same weekend also needs a presence,
