Protest Report - Event Run April 26, 2008
The following is a summary of
the protests submitted on this race night regarding any
procedure, technical, scoring, or racing questions.
Submitted by:
Thunder Car #66 Jake Ott
Upon review of the protest regarding "rough driving" by the
#9 car, the driver of the #66 should not have gone to the
pit of the #9 to "confront" that driver. Proper procedure
would have been to make track officials aware of the concern
and leave it to them to address the involved driver.
The second part of the protest involved
the incident in turn 4 where contact with the #9 car ended
up with the #66 in the wall. On-track officials saw the
incident and felt there was a mechanical issue on the #9
that caused the contact with the #66, and after reviewing
it, feel there was no intent on the part of the #9 driver to
make the contact, and therefore no penalty or action is
required.
Submitted by: Mini Stock #79 Kyle
Istead
The protest involved a scored finish where the #79 was
placed further back in the field than he felt he finished.
After a scoring review, the position was adjusted and the
#79 was moved forward in the official finish (as reflected
in the posted results).
Submitted by: Thunder Car #37 Jeff Bean
The protest concerned asking to cool down and then
being caught in the pits when the green flag came out.
The official in turn two was having radio issues and
could not communicate to the starter that the driver
wanted to leave the track for a cool down during the
caution. Any time a car leaves the track surface during
a race, it is the driver's responsibility to know that
the race could resume with only a white flag notice, and
that officials will not delay a race in order to wait
for a car to come from the pits.
