Protest Report - Event Run
May 31, 2008
The following is a summary of
the protests submitted on this race night regarding any
procedure, technical, scoring, or racing questions.
Protest filed by #17 Thunder Car,
driver Nick Roth
The protest asked two questions, first
about a call for jumping on the original green, and second
on a line-up following a caution, why he was left two
positions behind where he was scored
The jumping penalty was issued because
the 17 car was up beside the 02 when it crossed the
start-finish line, advancing from the assigned starting
position prior to the start-finish line.
The question regarding the line-up
after the caution pertained to the radio. The 73 and 17
were both told via the one-way radio to move in front of the
27 car, but neither moved. The 27 car slowed down and made
room for them but neither the 73 or 17 moved up, and were
therefore left in the positions they were in.

ONE-WAY RADIOS
Drivers are reminded that a one-way
radio is the primary tool being used to reset the field
following a caution flag or wherever the line-up needs to be
adjusted. The 2008 Flamboro Speedway rulebook (General
Rules, page 2, #5) clearly states that each driver is
required to have a receiver capable of monitoring
"speedway control" at 451.7125uhf. Failure to follow
directions on the one-way radio will result in penalties.
Drivers who are not in the correct position and are ahead of
the scored position, and do not respond to instructions to
move back, will be shown a black flag and sent to the back
of the field. Drivers who are lined up behind their scored
position and do not respond to instructions to move ahead,
will be left in that spot. |
