Flamboro Speedway was established in 1961 and has provided a full summer schedule of high-speed high-excitement grassroots stock car racing action every year since, making it one of Canada's longest running stock car tracks.
The one third-mile paved asphalt oval track continues to be upgraded and improved over the years, the most notable improvements being the resurfacing and restructuring of the racing surface in 1998, and the 2004 face-lift with the help of sponsor Lucas Oil Products, including new lights, new paint, and a new scoreboard.  In 2006, a new VIP entertainment facility was constructed at the top or corner one with a majestic view over the speedway and stadium facility.  The suite is available for entertainment and social networking between special guests of the speedway including sponsors, promotional partners, and other VIP guests.  Please contact speedway management for details of this great entertainment opportunity.
Plans are also in the works to add a go-kart track to the infield of Flamboro Speedway, specifically to entertain and educate the racers of the future.  Many great drivers have started their careers in karts, and Flamboro Speedway hopes to work with the Waterloo Regional Kart Club to further develop this opportunity and offer young fans the chance to climb behind a wheel and start to live their dreams.

The Racing…
There is an average 12 degrees of banking through the corners, and top speeds for premiere divisions have surpassed 90 mph down the back straightaway. It has been a while since Flamboro Speedway last put the radar gun to the cars or ran any time trials for local classes, but look for those and other special events to be on future race schedules.  Historically, the Late Models, Super Late Models and TQ Midgets have all been noted as some of the top contenders for the speed throne, but in 2002 the visiting Auto Value Super Sprints blistered the track and showed everyone just who are the true, ‘Kings of Speed’.  In qualifying, the Super Sprints turned laps in the low fourteen second range.  It was #9 Dorman Snyder of Union City who turned the first sub-14 second lap at 13.97.  But the fastest lap to date was turned that day, July 6th 2002, by #4B Rick Baker of Mooresville, Indiana, who took the pole starting spot with a lap of 13.89 seconds - The fastest lap to date turned at Hamilton’s Flamboro Speedway.

The Show…
For your viewing pleasure grandstands are positioned on the north straightaway, shielded by a safety wall and fence, and provide fans with an up-close, unobstructed view of all the racing action. Grandstands can also be located along the back straightaway in the pit area.  Flamboro Speedway boasts one of the largest seating capacities in Ontario for grassroots Saturday night stock car racing, with more than7,000 seats available.  The track’s announcer team, who are positioned in the scorers' tower centered high atop the Main Grandstand, keep race fans on the edge of their seats as they bring to life the drama unfolding on the track below, and get interactive with the crowd during race breaks.
Some weekly additions to the racing program include: the speedway’s friends from the Waterdown Lions Club, who weekly host a charity 50/50 draw to raise funds for local community initiatives; the good folks from J&C Souvenirs who make available all sorts of Flamboro Speedway memorabilia, hats, jackets and shirts; GRR Illustrated magazine, that keeps race fans up to date on all the great racing action in south western Ontario and brings to the spot light the people behind the wheels of the racing machines; and the Flamboro Speedway Junior Fan Club, who weekly entertains children 10 and under with games, activities and prizes.
Other attractions that have visited the speedway in recent years include a variety of Classic Car and Vintage Motorcycle shows, and the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life.

The Tradition Continues.....
Flamboro Speedway’s history of competition and excitement is second to none in Canada!
The track began its illustrious career in 1960 as a dirt race track in the Flamborough Township, and has grown to become one of the landmark racing facilities in Canada. In the 1970's it became home to some of the most famous battles in racing and some of the most famous names.  Flamboro Speedway was home to racers like Canadian racing legend Junior Hanley, and the indomitable ‘Daytona’ Don Biederman.  Later would follow the names of Rich Grady, Dan Monaghan, Bill Zardo and Pete Shepherd.  More recently, the names Scott Lyons and Jason Shaw have been associated with Late Model racing at Flamboro, and a new generation has appeared on the scene.  Paul Howse, Todd Campbell and David Elliott have all claimed recent Championships, including two WWS Canadian Champion titles for David Elliott.
The feeder divisions of Thunder Cars and Mini Stocks have also been making headlines with their ultra-competitive racing, and continue to produce and showcase the hottest new talents and competition breaking onto the racing scene.  Names like Randy ‘the Rocket’ Rusnell, ‘Flying Farmer’ Kevin Gallant, and ‘Iceman’ Brad Collison, are becoming more familiar with Canadian race fans, and are attracting growing interest to compete in stock car races.  Flamboro Speedway is also very proud of its graduates, like Petey Shepherd and John-Ryan Fitzpatrick, who both had starts to their racing career at the Hamilton-area oval and have since moved up to compete with the superstars of NASCAR.

The Sponsors and Partners…
Our great sponsor partners, in their support of Flamboro Speedway, have rejuvenated the focus on grassroots stock car racing.  Local community involvement continues to be the foundation of our partnerships and promotion, and has generated new interest and opportunity.
Some key people of recent years have been MacMaster Motorsports in Orangeville; Grisdale Enterprises of Dundas; Midtown Carstar Collision of Hamilton; Napa Waterdown Auto Parts of Waterdown; Crescent Oil of Hamilton; and of course, Lucas Oil Products.  These partners, along with many others, have helped to build and promote the weekly racing program and continue to offer their generous support of the speedway, its race teams, and its fans.  Please contact speedway management if you are interested in learning more about becoming part of the Flamboro family.
The addition of the Weekend Warrior Series (WWS) has proven to be a significant addition to the support of weekly competitors, and has introduced Flamboro fans and teams to the greater racing community by involving London-based Delaware Speedway in promotion of Canadian motorsport.  Adding recognition and support specifically to the Late Model class, the WWS continues to build a brand for the weekly racing programs in southern Ontario.  Assisting in the management of inter-speedway relations, the WWS develops co-promotion opportunities for its partner speedways and opens channels of communication.  For more on the WWS program please visit their website, www.weekendwarriorseries.com.

As we move ahead into the future of Canadian racing, Flamboro Speedway pledges to continue its efforts of providing top quality family entertainment in an exciting and friendly atmosphere.  We hope to see you at the speedway real soon!
